How To Know If You Have Hail Damage

Hail comes in all shapes and sizes, from pea size to softball size. In any form, hail is a menace to your roof. Unexpected hail storms can create unexpected damage: dents in metal roofs, cracks in asphalt, or leaks from lost or broken shingles. In many cases, it is difficult to detect whether your home has incurred damage from hail. If you are able to pinpoint hail damage on cars in the vicinity of your home, or you notice that your flower pots or lawn furniture is damaged, then it’s a fair indication that your roof needs an inspection. Home owners may not notice the effects until long after the storm has passed. That’s one reason why Shamrock Roofing and Construction recommends our yearly Residential Maintenance Program or our Commercial Maintenance Program, so that your roof can stay in good repair all year long-no surprises.
Check Your Insurance Policy For Hail Damage Coverage

Hail damage is usually covered by insurance companies but just in case, be sure to check out the circumstances included in your specific policy. For instance, if the damage is assessed and resulted in only cosmetic issues, then the insurance company may deny coverage. In some cases-especially depending on where you live- the owner of the home must file the hail damage claim within one year of the event. Keep in mind that once you have filed a claim for hail damage, it is likely that your insurance premium will increase.
Shamrock is happy to provide a free roof inspection if you suspect hail damage. Check out our File a Claim page; if you don’t see your insurance company listed, please don’t hesitate to call. We will assist you in any way we can to file a claim to your insurance company.
